I earned a Bachelor’s in Music for musical composition and a Bachelor’s of Music Education from Morehead State University and a Master’s in Music Education from the University of Arkansas.
I have taught five years in the public schools and is an avid composer/arranger of wind band and orchestral literature. Several of my works “In honor of thefallen”, “An Unending Legacy”, and “On Wings of Angels” “Atlantis: Lost City of the Ancients” for Symphonic/Concert Band is published with Alfred Publications. Many of my compositions have been performed by The Sacred Winds, The Central Kentucky Wind Ensemble, The Dallas Wind Symphony Brass Section and Percussion Section, The University of Arkansas Wind Symphony and the 2009 North Carolina All-State Top Honor Band in addition to many honor bands across the country. In 2010, I presented a clinic on how to teach composition techniques and how to assess musical compositions at the Kentucky Music Educators Association In-service conference. My other accomplishments and honors include: Recipient of the Orpheus Award for "Orpheus and Eurydice" from Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Winner of the Brass Band Composition Competition, in 1995; two time winner of the Morehead State Orchestral Composition Competition, in 2000 & 2001; winner of the KY Intercollegiate Composers’ Competition, in 1999 for “Nocturne”; and one of seven winners of the Dallas Wind Symphony Brass Section and Percussion Section Composition Contest, in 2003 for “Olympic Fanfare and Theme”. I was inducted into Pi Kappa Lambda, a national honor music society, in May 2010. I was also inducted into Who’s Who amongst Young Professionals & Entrepreneurs in 2009-2010. He is a member of ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers).
